Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1 — Into the hills
Arrive Bagdogra/New Jalpaiguri, scenic drive up the Teesta valley to Gangtok (1,650 m), evening stroll on MG Marg.

Day 2 — Gangtok & Rumtek
Morning prayers at Rumtek Monastery, Gangtok Ropeway ride, acclimatization day with a momo food trail.

Day 3 — Tsomgo & Nathula permit day
Full-day protected-area drive: sacred Tsomgo Lake (3,753 m), Baba Mandir, and Nathula Pass at the India–China border — weather and permit permitting (closed Mon–Tue).

Day 4 — Teesta rafting & sunrise viewpoint
Pre-dawn run to Tashi Viewpoint for Kanchenjunga at first light, then rafting the Teesta's grade II–III rapids.

Day 5 — Ravangla & Temi tea garden
Day trip through South Sikkim — Temi, the state's only tea estate, and the giant Buddha at Ravangla.

Downhill drive to Bagdogra/NJP for onward travel.
Know before you go
About Sikkim
March to May for rhododendron blooms, or October to December for the clearest Kanchenjunga views — monsoon months (June–September) bring landslide-prone mountain roads.
Tsomgo (Changu) Lake
A sacred glacial lake at 3,753 m, about 40 km up the mountain road from Gangtok — oval, prayer-flag ringed, partly frozen through winter, with yaks saddled for rides along the shore.
Nathula Pass
At 4,310 m on the historic Lhasa trade route at the India–China border, one of the world's highest motorable passes — visited on a Protected Area Permit and closed to visitors on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Rumtek Monastery
Sikkim's largest monastery, about 23 km from Gangtok — seat-in-exile of the Karmapa lineage, where butter-lamp prayers start the day in the main hall.
