Dubai runs on superlatives — the 828 m Burj Khalifa, a mall with over a thousand stores and its own aquarium, palm-shaped islands you can see from space. Desert safari

4x4 dune-bashing on the golden dunes outside the city, a camel ride at sunset, then BBQ dinner and live shows at a Bedouin-style camp under the stars.

Dubai Mall

One of the world's largest malls — 1,200-plus stores alongside a walk-through aquarium tunnel and an Olympic-size ice rink, at the base of the Burj Khalifa.

Old Dubai & the Creek souks

Cross Dubai Creek by wooden abra for about one dirham to Deira's Gold Souk and Spice Souk — the trading Dubai that existed long before the skyline.

Palm Jumeirah

The famous man-made palm island — ride the monorail up its spine to the crown, with skyline-and-sea views from The View at The Palm.

Dubai Frame & Museum of the Future

Two of the city's newest icons: a 150 m golden picture-frame with old Dubai on one side and new on the other, and the torus-shaped Museum of the Future on Sheikh Zayed Road.
